Number eight on the plate for Zipper It Mate Written by: Jeff Collerson

Zipper It Mate has led throughout in each of his seven wins and looks poised to bounce to the lead and win again at Richmond on Wednesday night.

The Peter Lagogiane-trained speedster will exit box three in the 400m Bess Electrical Free-For-All and on form has more early pace than the talented Old Mick Banner and Bago Road, who are positioned inside him in boxes one and two.

Zipper It Mate posted a sizzling first split of 8.11s when he led all the way at his most recent Richmond 400m outing, exploding out of box seven and stopping the clock at a personal best 22.60 last Friday.

The dog's only defeats were in a less suitable 515m event early in his career and when he missed the jump for the first time before winding up third in a Richmond 400m race on March 13.

Vintage Dancer is undefeated in four starts at Richmond but trainer Greg Hore concedes the dog faces his toughest test at the Londonderry circuit in Wednesday's 330m Ladbrokes Live Streaming Free-For-All.

Vintage Dancer has box eight and while the dog's record from the outside alley stands at two wins and three placings, Hore said: "I'm not too pleased with the draw.

"There is a lot of pace inside him and because Vintage Dancer does tend to shift slightly to the left when he jumps, I am hoping one of the dogs drawn inside him will give him a 'cart' across the field.

"He certainly needs to come out humming but he is capable of doing that.

"At his most recent start, at Dapto on April 30, Vintage Dancer did not jump well but for some reason he rarely nails the start at that track.

"And after missing the kick slightly he had no luck in the Dapto race and he is very partial to Richmond.''

Hardest for Vintage Dancer to beat looks to be the "mighty midget'' Esther's Angel, who tips the scales at shade over 22kg but has had 11 Richmond 330m starts for five wins and three seconds.

The Sam Sultana-trained Esther's Angel, who has box seven, is a keen railer but is capable of "pinging the lids.''

She had no trouble crossing to the lead from box eight when she won over 400m at Richmond on April 8 in a slick 22.73.

Trainer Syd Swain, who has two runners in the TSR Access Services Stakes, a 400m fifth grade, says there is little between his pair Flaming Lady, who has box one, and Jazzy Jones, drawn in six.

"I have trialled them against each other five or six times and while Jazzy Jones always wins, it is never by very much, sometimes as little as a half length,'' Swain said.

"And that's only because Jazzy Jones is a faster beginner than Flaming Lady.

"But in this race Jazzy Jones has box six while Flaming Lady has box one so that might even things up a bit.

"Flaming Lady came out running from box two when she led all the way at her first start at Richmond on Friday in 23.11 while Jazzy Jones led throughout in 23.14 after jumping in front from box five at the same meeting.''

Bar The Punk is not a foolproof beginner but looks the dog to beat for Swain's pair after clocking a smart 22.83, jumping in front and leading throughout from box one in a similar race at Richmond on April 29.

The Jimmy Coyle-trained Bar The Punk can come from behind as he blew the start before finishing second, from box seven, behind smart sprinter One Fury in a Richmond 400m race on March 27.

Bar The Punk is a son of Coyle's former smart sprinter Funky Punk, who won 13 races and whose dam Punk Angel is the grand-dam of Million Dollar Chase winner Mystic Riot and Melbourne Cup winner Whiskey Riot.

Lanmore Babe should only need to reproduce the brilliant first split she recorded in her Richmond 535m win last Friday to overcome box five in the Greyhound Products Direct Stakes over the same trip.

Lanmore Babe, who has registered four wins and two placings from just seven starts, was resuming from a spell when she led all the way in a smart 30.69, carving out the initial section in 5.25sec.

None of her rivals on Wednesday have matched these figures in their recent races and Lanmore Babe, who tends to race in the centre of the track, should be able to lead all the way.
